LBO Nonlinear Crystals

Lithium Tri-borate (LiB3O5)

An exceptional high laser damage threshold and excellent physical properties make LBO an ideal candidate for high power green-blue UV conversion of solid state and fiber lasers. As laser pulses shorten and average power continues to increase, the surfaces of the LBO crystal often see the highest power density.  Surface damages and the resulting loss of output power and the distortion of the beam caused by localized absorption resulting in thermal instability are some of the major issues in high power applications.

Small traces of contaminants during the growth and fabrication process can lead to these major breakdown issues, especially in the UV.  Our bulk super low absorption crystal, combined with our proprietary UV-grade super polish process is critical for highest damage threshold and stability in long term operations.

BBO Crystals

Beta Barium Borate (β-BaB2O4)

BBO is a versatile nonlinear optical crystal with a combination of a number of unique features: wide transparency region, broad phase-matching range, large nonlinear coefficient and high damage threshold.

BBO is one of the few practical crystals for use below 500 nm in Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) and Sum Frequency Mixing (SFM). BBO can be uses with CW light, nanosecond pulses or ultra fast pulses. It can produce output SHG for SFM light in the ultraviolet down to 190nm.

For OPO, SHG, FHG, SFG, large dimension for OPO, UV grade for deep UV with AR coatings:

  • Absorption <10ppm/cm tested at 1064nm and 532nm

  • Absorption <3500ppm/cm tested at 266nm

  • Completely free of visible defects

  • BBO OPO material: Large dimensions, with superior uniformity (λ/10)

Our Potassium Titanyl Phosphate crystals (KTP) are among the most widely used nonlinear optical crystals in many optical systems. GAMDAN Optics offers GTR-KTP (gray tracking resistant) crystals that are hydrothermally grown.
