GAMDAN Optics Presents at Defense + Commercial Sensing
Seamless and scalable method for enlarging single crystalline materials for high energy laser applications
For the first time ever, GAMDAN Optics will be presenting at SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing and sharing the updated advancements on large aperture LBO Crystals.
ABOUT THE PAPER
Large-aperture laser materials such as crystalline gain media or nonlinear optical crystals are essential for the success of many high energy lasers, but attractive crystals, such as LBO, are often not available in large enough sizes. An optically seamless and inherently scalable process for aperture enlargement is reported here. The enlargement is done using diffusion bonding of LBO crystals. A bonded crystal is shown to deliver beam quality and second harmonic conversion efficiency that is equivalent to that of a monolithic crystal of similar dimensions. This presentation reports the scaling of this bonding technique to create larger apertures.
